Hello everyone! We've been on mixed feeding since the first week of life because there wasn't enough breast milk (there were no surges, I don't know why, it's frustrating no matter how hard I tried, but I could only get a maximum of 70 ml from both breasts), and my baby is almost 4 months old. We had terrible colic initially; sometimes he could only poop with the help of a gas relief tube, and we were using Humana Platine. One day, the baby pooped on his own, but a plug came out (a very thick piece of stool), and then the doctor switched us to Alfare Gastro (a kind of therapeutic formula) with a complete protein hydrolysate and lactose-free. We've been on it for 2 months; now the baby cries when eating it because he doesn't like the taste, it's bitter. On this formula, he either poops once every three days or once every five days, but his stomach is calm, although sometimes he farts with crying. And somehow, I don't want to be on such a formula permanently; after all, the baby should somehow produce his own lactase enzyme, plus the formula is kind of light and I'm worried that when we start introducing solid foods tomorrow, he might react to everything because of this. So, we want to switch to Nanny with prebiotics; I read that it supposedly helps with constipation. I don't know what to do. The doctor says that it doesn't matter, we'll have colic on Nanny anyway ??‍♀️. But damn, colic is physiological up to 3 months, maybe everything that happened was because Humana didn't suit him and just general physiological immaturity of the GI tract. Can anyone share their experiences, please? Who else is on mixed feeding or fully on formula?

What mixtures have helped you with colic and constipation? I would be grateful for any advice!

We were on a funny formula, and that was causing the baby to have severe gas. We switched to full formula feeding, and it got better. Now there are almost no gases. Our formula is Mamako, made from goat's milk. However, be aware that goat's milk formula can cause constipation in some children. Also, it takes about 2 weeks for a baby to get used to a new formula. When we switched formulas, our child was constipated for a week, but then everything normalized. Our doctor said any formula labeled "comfort" would help. It reduces colic. And gases are common up until 6 months. My older child's gases went away after 6 months; he was breastfed. But my younger child, who is formula-fed, almost doesn't have gases at 4 months old.

Colic does not depend on diet and cannot be corrected by diet. This condition usually resolves on its own by 3-4 months. However, it varies individually and can sometimes last longer. The need to change the diet is indicated by constipation (lasting 5-7 days), or conversely diarrhea, blood in the stool, or projectile vomiting.

Анастасия, We have an interesting situation, as the child poops once every three days, sometimes once every five days, but he is no longer fussy, poops more often if we give him more formula. I'm thinking maybe he's not getting enough or something, but he is gaining weight normally.

Sakura KD, If there's not enough, he usually lets you know right away, like when the bottle runs out. He used to start crying when the bottle was empty, and then I understood that I needed to add more. If he eats and is calm, it means he's full, he's had enough. Increasing the portion will of course result in more pooping. What goes in must come out ? You need to differentiate between normal colic and an unsuitable formula. When the formula is suitable, it's usually better not to change it, because changing it could lead to even bigger problems.

We are back from the maternity hospital. They told me to buy Nutrilak there. No colic, and she farts and poops well. My daughter was on Nan formula and she suffered terribly from colic.
