Hello everyone, here I am writing again about what's troubling me. My son is 1.5 years old and weighs 8.4 kg; all this time he has only weighed 8 kg. We stopped breastfeeding a month ago, but he still eats and doesn't gain weight. I wouldn't say he has a great appetite; he is picky with his food and doesn't eat meat. What would you recommend?

First and foremost, it is important to consult a pediatrician for a full medical examination and consultation. It is possible that the child is lacking certain vitamins or nutrients, and the doctor will be able to prescribe appropriate tests and further studies. Also, pay attention to the child's diet. Try offering them a variety of nutritious foods, including fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products, and fish. Perhaps the child simply does not like meat, so you could try replacing it with other protein sources, such as cottage cheese, eggs, or legumes. Make sure that the child is getting enough fluids and enough sleep. Regular walks in the fresh air can also help improve the child's appetite and overall condition. However, in any case, do not resort to self-medication; always consult a doctor to determine the cause and find the best way to solve the problem.

And are the parents themselves, relatives large or small? If you yourself are small, then where will a big baby come from? My daughter, while she was breastfeeding, gained weight very poorly, but now on formula, she has caught up to the normal weight. Although both my husband and I, and everyone on both sides of our families, are small. I think once we stop the milk, her weight will decrease.

The daughter was just normal, also born at 3300 grams, but rather meaty, while the son was really skinny.

Pediatricians say that everything is normal, meaning she takes after her mom. I wouldn't say I'm thin, but I was thin in childhood.

At 1.5 years old, she didn't really eat from the family table. It was more like she just tried things, depending on her mood. Sometimes she wouldn't eat anything at all. But I breastfed her without restrictions until she was 2 years old, and continued to breastfeed her at night until she was 2.5 years old. Although she never really ate well with me, she always grew quickly. Even though she was chubby, her weight and height were appropriate. I always thought that a hungry child wouldn't grow. That's how I reassured myself.

You might have latent anemia; please get your ferritin levels tested. My daughter also didn't eat meat, and when we did the tests, her hemoglobin was normal, but her ferritin was low. They recommended Ferrovit-C drops, and now everything is fine.

Надя , This is a CBC (Complete Blood Count). And you need to check for vitamin deficiencies. Check ferritin and serum iron. They will show the iron level. Hemoglobin is something completely different. Check vitamin D3, folic acid (B9), magnesium, calcium, etc. And add sunflower lecithin, it will stimulate the appetite. And remove snacks. Only breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, and supper. Start teaching your child healthy eating habits now.

Надя , Ranferon is a good remedy, but it needs to be taken correctly. Give a rosehip compote, it helps absorb iron well. Vitamin D3 must also be given, and also according to a schedule. In the morning and not on an empty stomach.

Надя , And ask for a referral to a hematologist; he will prescribe the treatment well.

Submit tests for vitamins, you can then consult an online private pediatrician. Pediatricians from the clinic do not examine properly. At least submit CBC, ferritin, folic acid, B12, and iron tests. You can also add vitamin D3. And take dual-valent iron, such as Tardiferon and Ferrovit C. It is calculated based on weight, Ferrovit C is very good at increasing iron levels.

Submit tests for vitamins and a doctor who will select a regimen based on the analysis. Mine also weigh little, but they are very active, eat selectively, and periodically replenish vitamins.
