How to wean off breastfeeding? How did you do it yourself? I wanted to do it gradually, where should I start? (DS, NS) What did you do about lactation?

This morning I woke up with the thought that I wouldn't breastfeed anymore. I applied brilliant green and garlic on my breast. When the child reached for the breast, I said with a grimace of pain that "boobie owie, boobie is sick." He understood immediately and everything went smoothly, both during the day and at night (I gave him water to drink at night). Before this, I had tried and failed, and the doctor had told me that until I was ready myself, it wouldn't work without causing stress for the child. And then the day came which I myself did not expect. And I was convinced that the doctor was right.
I implemented a rule that milk is only for when we are going to sleep, before naptime and before bedtime. Then I removed it at naptime, saying that milk is only for nighttime. The main thing is to clearly communicate these rules, as children like clear rules. But I continued to nurse at night for a long time, until 2.5 years old. I stopped when she started sleeping through the night, but even then, when my daughter got sick during the weaning phase, I tried to give her milk until the very end.
I weaned at 2 when she started falling asleep by herself during the day. At night, I just applied lemon right before feeding. There were no tantrums at all. There's no point in getting her used to a bottle, eating well before sleep is good. At that age, ideally, they shouldn't wake up at night for feeding.
I weaned her at 1.5 years. Before that, I gradually removed one feeding at a time. Only one remained, in the morning. And when I finally decided, I simply got up before her and prepared her favorite breakfast. She didn't remember about breastfeeding and never asked for it again.
Happy New Year! Weaning can be a challenging process for both the child and the mother. It's important to remember that each situation is unique, and the approach to weaning should be individualized.
If you want to wean your child smoothly, you can start by gradually reducing the number of feedings during the day. For example, you can replace one feeding with a bottle or porridge, and then gradually increase the number of replacements. You can also try replacing feeding with cuddling, having tea, or other comforting methods.
Regarding weaning from lactation, it's important to remember that this is a process that can take some time. You can try gradually reducing the duration of feedings, as well as using cold compresses or medications recommended by a doctor to reduce milk production.
It's important to remember that weaning should be gradual and based on the individual needs of the child and mother. Be sure to consult with a doctor or a breastfeeding consultant to get professional support and advice. Good luck to you and your little one! ❤️
