Hi and congratulations on your first baby! Great question — please tell me how many months the baby is and what symptoms you see (chewing on fists, drooling, irritability, fever, diarrhea, rash, swollen gums, etc.). Briefly about typical signs of teething: - increased drooling and chewing/gnawing on objects; - swollen/red gums, sometimes a white spot is visible; - irritability, more frequent crying, poorer sleep; - slight increase in temperature (usually minor). When to contact a doctor: - high fever (usually >38 °C) or prolonged fever; - severe diarrhea, vomiting, rash, difficulty breathing, refusal to eat/drink — see a pediatrician urgently; - if you're unsure or the condition worsens. Briefly about relieving discomfort at home: - a cold (not frozen) teether or a clean cooled gauze for chewing; - gentle gum massage with a clean finger; - comfort and reassurance, hold the baby more often. Describe the symptoms — I’ll help determine whether it’s likely teething and what you can try.
