I tried almost everything — Lugol’s solution, gargling with all the things you suggested — and in the end it was awful, my throat actually got worse, I was bringing up pus and it wouldn’t stop. I took ampicillin as prescribed by the doctor, it didn’t help, and eventually I collapsed, weak and with a fever; my milk dried up because I hadn’t eaten for 2 days. They prescribed ampicillin injections in parallel with what I was taking, plus gargling with Rotokan. I took children’s Ibufen (ibuprofen) to reduce inflammation, pain and fever, and just drank a lot — warm tea or water with raspberry syrup. I bought a lidocaine spray at the pharmacy, sprayed it into my throat, coughed and spat, tfu tfu; today is the 3rd day and I feel much better. The pus is still coming out by the way, so my dears, even if it’s not tasty and won’t reduce the fever, let it be warm — drink and eat everything warm, and beware of drafts.
