Hello, it's been a month since I gave birth, the discharge ended 5 days ago, but yesterday light brown discharge reappeared, and there's also an unpleasant smell, which wasn't there before. Could this still be lochia? Or should I see a doctor?

Hello! Light brown discharge after childbirth can be a normal occurrence, as lochia can continue for up to 6 weeks postpartum. However, if you notice an unpleasant smell, it could be a sign of infection. It is recommended to consult a doctor for further examination and to prescribe necessary treatment if needed. Do not delay visiting the doctor to avoid possible complications.

If there's a smell, you need to see a doctor. I don't want to scare you, but if not all the lochia has been expelled, it can decompose in your uterus.
