My son has been sucking his finger since birth... Can anyone share if they've had the same experience and how they managed to stop it?

There are several methods that can help discourage a child from thumb sucking. Here are some of them: 1. Praise and encouragement: Praise your child when they are not sucking their thumb and encourage them for it. You can agree on a reward if the child does not suck their thumb for a certain period of time. 2. Distraction: Try to distract the child from thumb sucking by offering them other activities or games. 3. Discussion: Talk to your child about the reasons why they suck their thumb and explain that it can be harmful to their teeth and health. 4. Use of special products: There are special products on the market (such as special varnishes or patches) that can be applied to the thumb to discourage thumb sucking. 5. Visiting a dentist: If the problem with thumb sucking is serious and causing damage to the teeth, it is worth consulting a dentist for advice and assistance. Each child is unique, so it may take some time and patience to break them of this habit. The main thing is to be patient and consistent in your efforts.

Hello! My younger daughter used to suck her finger. I replaced the finger with a pacifier, and then we weaned her off the pacifier by cutting it.

Наталья , Then put warm mittens or thin socks on their hands, not as a punishment, but as a reminder that it's time to grow up. Encourage them when they are not sucking, regardless of whether it's a three-year-old son or a seven-month-old, it works at both ages.

I spent a year weaning my daughter off sucking her thumb, which took about 3 weeks, as she used to fall asleep with her finger in her mouth, and it was also her comfort when she cried! I tried everything! At one point, she injured her index finger, and while we were treating it, we wrapped it with a bandage! Then an idea suddenly came to me ? I wrapped her thumb with a bandage, told her it was a "boo-boo," and to make sure she wouldn't take it off, I had to wrap her whole hand as well, even at night!
