Hello everyone. Moms, I have a question about teeth grinding during sleep. My son periodically grinds his teeth at night, in his sleep. Today, I didn't sleep half the night because he was actively doing it, and it happened again during his nap. Have any of you experienced similar issues? What should be done about it? There's various information online. Some sources say it's normal and will pass by the age of 5, while others suggest seeing a bunch of doctors?.

Hello! Teeth grinding in sleep, or bruxism, is quite common in children. It usually goes away on its own and does not require any special measures. However, if it starts to worry you or your son complains of pain in his teeth or jaw, it is worth consulting a dentist or a pediatric neurologist for advice. The doctor might recommend wearing a night guard, which will help prevent damage to the teeth and relieve tension in the jaw. Also, it is important to pay attention to possible stresses or nervousness in the child, as bruxism is often related to the emotional state. There is no need to panic, but it is essential to consult a specialist to determine the cause and receive recommendations for further treatment.
