Hello everyone! Moms, is it normal for a baby to vomit like a fountain in the first week of life? It happened once during the day and now once at night. He feeds as if he's in a hurry, and I hold him upright for 10-15 minutes until he burps after each feeding. Did this happen with your children initially? Or should I be alarmed and go see a specialist?

Hello! Yes, many infants may experience similar vomiting situations in the first weeks of life. This could be due to incomplete digestion of food, overfeeding, or just peculiarities of the digestive system. It's important to monitor the overall condition of the child, their weight, activity, and the presence of other symptoms. If the vomiting continues or worsens, it's better to consult with a pediatrician to assess the situation and get recommendations. There's no need to panic, but it is important to be attentive to changes in the baby's health.

There was something similar, I held her upright between feedings, fed her a little - held her - then fed her again. Either she swallows too much milk (I would express a little before feeding) or the latch is not correct.

Be careful, definitely feed while sitting if there is also vomiting at night. It might be necessary to check the frenulum. My daughter had this issue from 1 month to 3 months; she was overeating. It was like a fountain vomiting once a day, only during the day. Until 1 month old, she ate and slept calmly with no spitting up at all. It's possible that you are not latching her on correctly.
