Good afternoon. My child is 2 years old, and the pediatrician recommended giving raw egg yolk. Yesterday, I made potatoes with meat and mixed in the egg yolk... The child ate only about three spoonfuls of the entire portion... Please tell me how foolish this idea is and whether I should be worried that the child could get infected?

Good afternoon! Giving raw egg yolk to a two-year-old is not recommended due to the risk of salmonella infection, which can be present in raw eggs. Your idea is not very safe, and you should avoid giving raw eggs to a child. If the child has not shown any symptoms of poisoning, most likely everything will be fine. However, if you have any concerns, it is better to consult a doctor.

A ridiculously stupid idea. I always thoroughly cook everything for the adult members of my family, especially when it comes to eggs and chicken, and I wash my hands carefully after handling them. It's strange that such an idea would come to a doctor's mind ??‍♀️. Can I find out what the purpose was behind her "prescribing" it?

Watch the baby and that's it. It's unlikely that the child got infected, but don't do that again. The egg needs to be boiled. And I would never go to the pediatrician about this again.
