Hello, girls!!! The pediatrician prescribed Candid drops for the tongue. Please advise how to use Candid. And he said it's nothing serious if the child swallows Candid? But the instructions say it's contraindicated. Should I drop it into the mouth or apply it to the tongue with a cotton swab? Thank you in advance.

Hello! Candid drops are usually prescribed for treating fungal infections in the oral cavity. They are typically applied to a child's tongue using a dropper or pipette, after mixing them with a small amount of water. If the instructions indicate that the drops are contraindicated if swallowed, try to apply them to the child's tongue in such a way that they are not swallowed. It's better to wrap a bandage around your finger; it will be safer in case the child suddenly jerks. Generally, it's better to apply sodium tetraborate to the tongue; it really helps with this before each feeding. But of course, you'll have to see for yourself.

The best remedy is a vial of vitamin B12 and a nystatin tablet. Mix everything with a cotton swab and treat the mouth for one day. Put a bandage on your finger, but do not rub. For us, one day is enough for everything to heal. We also treat stomatitis in just one day this way.
