I cannot give medical advice, but usually it is not recommended to supplement a breastfed baby with water, as breast milk contains all the necessary nutrients and fluid for the baby. I was somehow convinced that water should not be given until a certain month, and I was afraid to give it, only when there was hiccuping. It turns out that was a mistake. We still don't drink plain water to this day. If supplementing is necessary, it's probably better to do it with formula to gain weight if needed, but otherwise, breast milk is sufficient.
