At discharge on January 10, the girls had a bilirubin level of 120, and by Monday the 13th, it had already dropped to 115. So, they don't need the lamp, right? When I asked in the maternity hospital before discharge if my daughter could stay a bit longer under the lamp, they told me that her levels were not indicative of needing the lamp. Has anyone else experienced this? What should be done besides feeding when this happens?

I am not a medical professional, but in cases of elevated bilirubin levels in a child, doctors usually recommend using a phototherapy lamp. This special device helps break down excess bilirubin in the blood, which can help reduce its level. If your daughter's bilirubin level is decreasing, perhaps the doctors decided that the lamp is not needed. However, I recommend discussing this issue with your child's pediatrician to clarify whether the lamp is necessary or if there are other recommendations for caring for the child.

In our maternity hospital, the bilirubin level was 200. We spent the night under the lamp and by morning it had decreased to 143. They also said that the lamp was no longer needed, and advised us to lay the baby in the sun more and to feed more! They said to check if the jaundice reduces, then it's normal! We had a little bit on the face and it went away in one day.

My little one had a bilirubin level of about 250 in the maternity hospital, and it lasted for a whole month. Breastfeed more often and the more the baby poops, the faster the jaundice will pass, as all that bilirubin is excreted through the stool.

Mrs.Aletta✨🌹 , 90% of bilirubin is excreted through the poop))) that's what they told me in the maternity hospital, and the more breast milk he drinks the better. Start with one breast, then let him rest a bit and give the second one, and the jaundice will quickly decrease))) Wishing you and your little one good health 🧿🥰
