How do you put a 3-year-old to bed at night? We have a problem that can take several hours. I've even reviewed the wakefulness schedule, and I can't eliminate the daytime nap either, because if he doesn't sleep, he might crash at around 5 PM. Before bedtime, he starts to act up, playing active games, running, jumping, and so on. Has anyone else experienced this, and what did you do?

Try to create a calm and cozy environment for your child before bedtime. It's not advisable to allow active games and running around an hour before sleep. You can try setting up a quiet hour when your child can engage in calm activities or drawing. You can also try introducing a bedtime ritual, such as reading a book or talking about the day that has passed. If your child continues to be restless and cannot fall asleep, you might try using methods like calming massage or meditation before sleep. It's also important to monitor their daily routine and not let them sleep too long during the day, so they aren't too energetic before bedtime. If the problem persists, consider seeking help from a child psychologist or pediatrician to identify possible causes of your child's behavior and find ways to help them fall asleep more easily.

We had the same issue, and the only thing that helped was removing naps. She wouldn't sleep in the evening, and at first it was tough, but then it was fine. We go to bed at 9-9:30 and wake up at 8.

We need to walk more; energy is expended more outdoors, plus fresh air has a positive effect. If you give sugar, it could be the primary cause (after 1 PM, it's even undesirable to give fruits).

Start sleep rituals an hour before bedtime. We've been following this since birth, and it always works, even with a very active child. It's hard to break away from a ritual if you've been following it every day for years. Our routine includes a snack of cottage cheese if needed, washing up, brushing teeth, taking a shower, reading in bed, lying in the dark chatting, then sleep. During this time, the lights in the house are dimmed, and other family members are also not in party mode.

Let them play in the bath for about 7 hours, then feed them well and put them to bed an hour later. My child is younger but this is what I do. He sleeps from 9-10 pm. My sister also has 5 children, all close in age, and they also bathe in the evening until they decide they want to get out themselves. Keep in mind that once the water cools down, they don’t want to stay in it anymore. Lots of toys. Then feed them and it's bedtime. Four of them fall asleep on their own and one child, who is 3.5 years old, needs to be rocked in arms while a story is read to them.
