The newborn baby won't latch on at all, and I had to resort to giving formula. How can I get him to breastfeed? I'm afraid that he'll get used to the formula and my milk will go to waste.

If your newborn isn't latching on, there are several things you can try to help them start suckling: 1. Try different feeding positions. Some babies find it easier to suckle when they are lying on their side or on their stomach. 2. Try to create a calm and cozy atmosphere during feeding. Avoid noise and bright light. 3. Breast massage before feeding can help stimulate milk flow. 4. Try expressing some milk before feeding to make the breast more accessible for the baby. 5. Seek help from a lactation consultant or doctor for additional advice and support. Don't worry too much about the baby getting used to formula. It's important to remember that breast milk will always be the best nutrition for your child. Try to be patient and keep trying to help the baby latch on to the breast.

Are you in the maternity hospital? Call the breastfeeding consultants, let them teach you how to latch on. You need to establish breastfeeding during your stay in the maternity hospital.

Remove the mixture, put it to the breast. Maybe you are not applying it to the breast correctly. Ask someone to show you how to apply it correctly.

It worked, hooray ? I tried with the nipple shields but didn't take them, tried to express a few drops of milk into the shield and she sucked from the shield, then after about 5 minutes I removed the shield altogether and it worked, she is sucking ?

"Try applying in different positions, prepare the nipple."

Ready to share my story with breastfeeding. After the formula, I refused. I just didn't remove it!! Through tears, I pushed her to breastfeed. Tantrums, snot, tears - 5 days!! Now only breast. If there's no milk, I supplement with formula only when she's sleepy so she doesn't notice.
