No, there is no need to wipe a baby's gums after every feeding. It is sufficient to wipe the gums with a napkin or gauze only if milk or saliva remains on them. In other cases, it is enough to regularly care for the child's oral cavity by massaging the gums and monitoring their condition.

Supermoms , It seems there might be a typo in your question. The word "иастровать" does not exist in Russian. If you meant "массировать" (to massage), then the sentence would be "Why massage the gums?" If you meant something else, please clarify.

There's no need to wipe anything, especially with a napkin. Wiping is only necessary if there is thrush.

I've never heard of such a thing? I never wiped anything off any of the kids! The baby's gums are very delicate, it's not worth poking around there unnecessarily.

It makes sense to do this when teeth start to come in, to scrape off plaque to prevent early formation of cavities. Until there are teeth, there is no point in wiping.
