Hello, I have a problem. My daughter is 1.7 years old. I've noticed that she has started to urinate less frequently, for about 4 days now. After waking up in the morning, she can go without urinating for up to 4 hours. Her behavior hasn't changed; she eats well and plays. This coincided with her recently getting over a cough, and these days we also stopped breastfeeding, which was only during the night. Could these be related, or should I be concerned?

Hello! It's possible that the change in your daughter's urination pattern is related to her recent cough and changes in your breastfeeding routine. She might simply be drinking less fluid due to the illness or changes in feeding. However, if you are concerned about these changes, it is recommended to consult a doctor for advice and further examination. The doctor may be able to provide you with a more precise answer and recommendations for further actions.

Well, our urination completely depends on fluid intake) no fluid, no urination) if there are no swellings, blood, or pain during urination, then everything is good. A urinary retention of more than 8 hours, assuming fluid intake, is a reason to see a doctor.

Hello! As mentioned above, urination depends on the amount of fluid consumed :) Let's just give the little one more water. Previously, additional fluid came from breastfeeding, since breast milk is almost entirely made up of water, and now that it's not available, she has started to urinate less because she's receiving less fluid. Pay attention to the little one's face during urination; from her expression, you will be able to tell whether she is experiencing discomfort/pain or not. If yes, go to the doctor; if no - as I already said, more water :)

Give more liquids: compote, juice, water, soups. You can tell by the color of the urine whether there is enough fluid in the body: if it is light straw-colored, then it is normal; the darker it is, the less there is. If it's almost clear, it means there is an excess.
