Главное, на что обращают внимание в такой ситуации – реальный вес плода в 4 месяца и информация фетометрии. За беременной осуществляют пристальный надзор. Если проблема выяснилась на сроке до 8 месяцев, врач-генетик выполняет некоторые исследования на исключение хромосомных искажений. После постановки диагноза назначают внутриутробные измерения и доплерометрию каждые 2 недели, при осложнении картины, или после 8 месяцев – раз в неделю. Как правило требуется досрочное родоразрешение начиная от 7 месяцев.
