Good afternoon! The little one has had a fever since yesterday, chills, I called an ambulance and they said his throat is red because of the fever. I called a doctor, who prescribed antibiotics for us. He said the same thing, and also mentioned it could be due to teething. The fever is 39°C, I bring it down with ibuprofen, but within an hour the fever is back. I've attached a photo for you to look at, do the gums look swollen? We don't have any teeth yet.????????

Hello! Unfortunately, I cannot view the photographs. However, if your little one has swollen gums and a fever, it could be a sign of gum inflammation or other oral issues. It's important to follow the doctor's instructions and take antibiotics to fight any possible infection. If the fever does not subside or other symptoms worsen, be sure to consult a doctor for further advice. Take care of yourself and your little one, and I hope they recover soon!

Do you think the ibuprofen dosage is correct? By weight. And could you check the lower teeth?

When teething, the temperature can be up to 37.5 degrees Celsius.

The first teeth to come in are the lower ones. There's no such thing as a temperature under 40 degrees Celsius due to teething; it's a virus. Until the age of 2.5 years, doctors told us every fever was due to teething, but in the end, we never actually saw a temperature increase due to teething. And antibiotics are prescribed only based on blood tests. It's nonsensical to just blast antibiotics for a high fever. Sorry if that sounds harsh. And you might just have typical roseola. It causes a sudden spike in temperature that lasts for three days. It's hard to bring down for long. Then it breaks out in a rash on the child and the temperature doesn't rise again.

It's unlikely to be the teeth. Interferon ointment will help well, apply it on the throat, you can apply it on the nipple too, it will still reach the target. Use Viferon suppositories, call a doctor to your home.

You can't see the teeth at all, and the throat?

We caught a virus during teething, with a red throat. If it's not tonsillitis, it is treated symptomatically. In your case, I would give Lizobact and also apply it to a pacifier, ensure plenty of fluids, and alternate and dose properly. At your age, it could possibly be roseola, when there is a fever with chills hitting every 4 hours for about 4 days. Also, consider that chills need to be addressed immediately with an age-appropriate fever reducer, because it starts working about an hour and a half later, by which time (when the hands and feet are icy during chills) the fever will have reached its peak. We caught the virus "on all teeth," but no one immediately gave antibiotics; we then observed the consequences of the teeth. Find another doctor and read about types of fever and how to act. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

We also encountered a temperature of 39.8 without obvious symptoms, it wouldn't go down, so we went to the emergency room where they brought it down with injections. And there was also a virus during teething. The prescribed treatment was: Apply blue dye on the tongue (moisten a cotton swab and apply) 3 times a day Viferon suppositories 2 times a day, 150,000 units Zodak If the temperature does not decrease after a day, then start antibiotics + bifidobacteria My advice to you is to always keep a new bottle of fever-reducing syrup on hand after the previous treatment, because once opened, it doesn’t work as well, even if the expiration date is still good, based on personal experience.
