Hi moms. Please help me out. I went to a gynecologist today and all he did was the scan and asked me random questions. Is he not supposed to perform a variety of tests and prescribe or give me supplements? He seemed to be hurried for my liking. Am 13 weeks pregnant and he said he'll only do the tests at 20 weeks. But the app I downloaded says the opposite. I have a checklist that I went through and I haven't ticked a thing for the whole of the first trimester.

Nothing to afraid off, but just buy folic acid and ferrous tablet take once daily till you go for your scan at 20 weeks

He's put me off the folic acid. I was given by a gp when I first found out I was pregnant

You are supposed to do every test immediately you register for Anc, and they are supposed to give you supplement

I think it depends on time of hospital you visited. During my first visit, I went through all those test as a first requirement before seeing a doctor for the first time

First its advisable to register in more than one hospital. I registered in 3 hospitals. Second , folic acid is very neccessary from "when you start trying to get pregnant until 3 months pregnant " after 3 months , the baby's brain is fully developed so folic acid doesn't do much after 3 months. The most important supplements after 3 months are iron and calcium supplements.
