How long can the teeth stay out?

How long can the teeth stay out? We're in full swing. The temperature is up to 38 for three days, a couple of droolings came out, crying/fussing so much that he even gets him turned off. He eats, sleeps thankfully well, maybe wakes up a few times at night, hiccups, gives him a pacifier and falls asleep again. His gums are painful, it doesn't look good.
