Please tell me, what could this be? At first a small rash with flaking appeared under the left eye. Gradually it grew, it showed up under the other eye, on the nose, and near the mouth. The skin near the mouth started to flake a lot. We only recently switched to formula (we give Nutrilak). We started giving formula at 6 months, now 7. The baby has started to spit up forcefully — not after every feeding, but it happens.

Possible causes (not a diagnosis): - irritation from saliva/frequent spitting up (irritant contact dermatitis around the mouth/under the chin); - atopy/eczema or seborrheic dermatitis of the face in infants; - reaction to a new formula (allergic or intolerance) — especially if the rash appeared shortly after switching; - less commonly — a fungal or bacterial infection (if there is redness with crusting/discharge). What you can try at home: - gently wash the face with warm water and pat dry, don’t rub; - keep the area dry (spare bibs, change them often); - apply a protective barrier cream or petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to irritated areas; - avoid alcohol-containing wipes, fragranced creams, and harsh soaps; - take photos for documentation and monitor how it changes. When you must see a doctor: - high fever or a significant worsening of overall condition; - the rash spreads quickly, or blisters, pus, cracks, or bleeding appear; - feeding problems, weight loss, frequent severe spitting up/vomiting, or blood in the stool; - if you suspect this is a reaction to formula — discuss with the pediatrician before changing feeding. If you want, send a photo (to show the doctor) and say whether there have been any other symptoms — diarrhea, blood in the stool, rash on the body, changes in behavior/sleep.
