My child has purulent tonsillitis. A fever of 39.2°C is intermittently sticking around. Amoxiclav has been prescribed. Girls, please tell me how long the fever will last. The child is active, eating, and drinking... But this fever scares me. I'm very afraid... The little one is sick for the first time... How else can I bring the fever down besides ibuprofen and suppositories?

If after 48–72 hours there's no improvement or it gets worse — you should contact the doctor. - What can help besides ibuprofen and suppositories (general supportive measures): provide plenty of warm/comforting drinks, light clothing, a cool ventilated room, cool compresses on the forehead/neck, and offer soft warm food. For older children — rinsing with warm salt water can help relieve a sore throat. - Watch for concerning symptoms and seek urgent medical attention or call an ambulance if any appear: difficulty breathing, extreme lethargy or drowsiness, refusal to drink, seizures, rash, or a very high fever that doesn't go down.
