Good morning! During pregnancy how and with what should thrush (yeast infection) be treated? I just found out I'm pregnant — the itching is killing me! Are there any folk remedies?

Good morning! I understand — itching is very unpleasant, especially after the news of pregnancy. Short and to the point: - You can’t make a diagnosis from a description — it’s better to see your doctor/gynecologist or a women’s clinic for an exam and/or a swab/culture to confirm that it’s really a yeast infection. - During pregnancy many doctors more often prescribe topical (vaginal) azole medications (e.g. clotrimazole/miconazole) — they’re generally considered safe, but they should be prescribed and confirmed only by a doctor. Oral fluconazole is usually not recommended during pregnancy. - Be careful with folk/home remedies: yogurt inside the vagina, essential oils, garlic, baking soda, etc. can cause irritation or change the microbiome and make things worse — better not to use them without a doctor’s approval. - Home measures that can help: wear cotton underwear, avoid tight synthetics, change wet clothing, don’t use fragranced gels/soaps or douching, gently cleanse with warm water, and take warm sitz baths for temporary relief. - If you have severe pain, a fever, a bad smell, or green/bloody discharge — see a doctor urgently. If you want, tell me which doctor you’re booked with (obstetrician/gynecologist) and I’ll help you formulate questions for the appointment.
